Luntz’ “Government Takeover”

Jun 29, 2009 | By Larry Mantle

Political consultant Frank Luntz talked this morning about how he uses focus groups to come up with the terms many Republican politicians use in policy debates. Luntz coined “death tax,” among many other favorite GOP expressions. His most recent influence can be seen in his 26-page memo to Republican members of Congress that urges usage of the term “government takeover” to describe a public health insurance option. Luntz argues that most Americans want healthcare coverage made more widely available and for pre-existing conditions to be covered, but that they’re also concerned about losing the level of coverage they have.

President Obama clearly considers this to be true, as he frequently reassures folks that those currently covered by health insurance will be able to continue with what they have. However, many Republicans say a proposed public plan would put private insurers out of business and leave everyone with only the public option. That’s the intersection between what Luntz is hearing in focus groups and what GOP members of Congress are trying to articulate in fighting the highest priority of a popular President….Continue Reading

EXCLUSIVE: Cheney fears Iraq withdrawal will ‘waste’ U.S. sacrifices

Joseph Weber (Contact)

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday said he is concerned about U.S. forces withdrawing from Iraqi cities within 24 hours.

Mr. Cheney told The Washington Times’ America’s Morning News radio show that he is a strong believer in Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, and that the general is doing what needs to be done.

“But what he says concerns me: That there is still a continuing problem. One might speculate that insurgents are waiting as soon as they get an opportunity to launch more attacks.

“I hope Iraqis can deal with it. At some point they have to stand on their own. But I would not want to see the U.S. waste all the tremendous sacrifice that has gotten us to this point.” …Continue Reading

Honduras Fights for Constitution, Obama Takes Sides with Chavez against the Honduran People

I’ve made it clear that the United States respects the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is not interfering with Iran’s affairs.  Barack Hussein Obama, Press Conference, June 23

Honduran soldiers rousted President Manuel Zelaya from his bed and exiled him at gunpoint Sunday to Costa Rica, halting his controversial push to redraw the constitution but spurring fresh concerns about democratic rule across Latin America.

The U.S. and other countries condemned the coup. President Barack Obama said he was “deeply concerned” and called on all political actors in Honduras to “respect democratic norms.”
Venezuela President Hugo Chávez, a close ally of Mr. Zelaya and nemesis of the U.S., said he would consider it an ”act of war” if there were hostilities against his diplomats. “I have put the armed forces of Venezuela on alert,” Mr. Chávez said.

Chavez threatens military action over Honduras coup | U.S. | Reuters

Obama refuses to “meddle” in Iran where individuals are courageously risking life and limb for the idea of free elections. Brutal Islamic nazis are crushing dissent and Obama talks about “lively debate”.  But in the Honduras, Obama and the whores at the UN have no qualms in interfering in the Honduras to back a Chavez proxy(of course).
The real story behind the chaos in Honduras is a huge story that needs to be exposed to the world. …Continue Reading

Nukes to the left of us, nukes to right, Axelrod says nukes in Iran –

Axelrod claims Iran has nuclear weapons
Top Obama adviser’s statement contradicts official U.S., Israeli estimates

Posted: June 29, 2009

In an apparent mistake, President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod stated during an interview yesterday there are nuclear

weapons in Iran which are a threat to the entire world.

No country has ever claimed Iran currently has a nuclear arsenal. A 2007 U.S. intelligence estimate previously claimed Iran halted its nuclear weapons-related work in 2003, although that report was highly criticized. Other American agencies have stated Iran could obtain nukes by 2013 or later.

Israel maintains Iran could have enough enriched uranium to produce a nuclear weapon in less than a year, although other Israeli estimates put the timeline at 2012.

Axelrod, meanwhile, said yesterday in little noticed comments to ABC News that there are already nuclear weapons in Iran…. Continue Reading

Where’s The Birth Certificate-

World Net Daily raises a great point that should be interesting to watch play out.

Obama secrecy could prevent recognition of birthplace
Most presidents’ homes provided federal designation

Posted: June 29, 2009

Is President Obama’s birthplace, wherever it is, destined to lie unrepaired and unrecognized in perpetuity? If the phalanxes of lawyers currently fighting a number of lawsuits seeking to open up detailed information about the president’s origins succeed that’s a distinct possibility, since the ordinary National Park Service recognition of presidents’ birthplaces does not even begin unless members of Congress or a president seek the distinction.

That’s according to Kathy Kupper, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service, who was interviewed on the subject by Greg Corombos of RadioAmerica/WND.

“All 391 National Park Service sites are designated either by the president or by Congress. So it always is initiated by one of those entities,” Kupper said….Continue Reading
