Obama Votes “Present” On Mortgage Reform

In the Wall St. Journal,, Peter J. Wallison, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, argues that Senator Obama voted “Present” on mortgage reform when it counted:

In each of the first two presidential debates, Barack Obama claimed that “Republican deregulation” is responsible for the financial crisis. Most viewers probably accepted this idea, especially because Republicans generally do favor deregulation.

But one essential fact was missing from the senator’s narrative: While there has been significant deregulation in the U.S. economy during the last 30 years, none of it has occurred in the financial sector…

If Sen. Obama had been asked for an example of “Republican deregulation,” he would probably have cited the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 (GLBA), which has become a popular target for Democrats searching for something to pin on the GOP. This is puzzling. The bill’s key sponsors were indeed Republicans, but the bill was supported by the Clinton administration and signed by President Clinton. The GLBA’s “repeal” of a portion of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 is said to have somehow contributed to the current financial meltdown. Nonsense.

Adopted early in the New Deal, the Glass-Steagall Act separated investment and commercial banking. It prohibited commercial banks from underwriting or dealing in securities, and from affiliating with firms that engaged principally in that business. The GLBA repealed only the second of these provisions, allowing banks and securities firms to be affiliated under the same holding company. Thus J.P. Morgan Chase was able to acquire Bear Stearns, and Bank of America could acquire Merrill Lynch. Nevertheless, banks themselves were and still are prohibited from underwriting or dealing in securities.

The repeal of Glass-Steagall (GLBA) is a total non-event in the midst of the current economic turmoil. What this repeal did was allow commercial banks to get more deeply involved with investment banking activities. Thus, JP Morgan, Citigroup, Bank of America were able to utilize their significant balance sheets and capital bases to become a force on Wall St. Fast forward ten years and it is those institutions that are now thankfully supporting and bailing out our system.

I asked Mr. Doyle to elaborate, to help make sense of the current situation regarding Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (“F/F”). This also serves to clarify Senator Obama’s ‘non-role’ in working to get us out of this mess and makes clear that John McCain actually stood up when he said he did:

Throughout the 90s and into the early part of this century, F/F were utilizing their significant lobbying power to gain an ever increasing portion of the overall U.S. mortgage market. They had the enormous advantage of being able to borrow at just marginally over U.S, government rates given the “implied” but not explicit backing of Uncle Sam. I mean come on that worst case scenario could never come to pass!!

While F/F were designed to provide liquidity to the market in the form of bundling mortgages into securities, charging a guarantee fee for return of principal to the investors in these Mortgage Backed Securities (“MBS”), and then selling the MBS into the private market, they decided to take a different path. What path was that? Given their ability to borrow at very cheap rates they decided to effectively grow their own internal portfolios. This business model was nothing more than a massively levered hedge fund under the guise of “helping the homeowner”.

In order to grow these portfolios, though, they needed more mortgages. Thus they went directly to the mortgage originators and worked with them to increase the mortgage terms and types that they would buy.

As Freddie and Fannie were executing this strategy, there were 3 groups that stood up and said that this activity was getting out of control. Who were they?? On Capitol Hill, Senator Richard Baker (R-LA) carried the torch. There were actually a number of large banks including Chase and Citi that formed a group called FM Watch that complained that Freddie and Fannie were taking market share from them in their own mortgage origination business. This group was conflicted because the investment banking arms of these institutions were pressured by Freddie and Fannie to quell their complaints or they would refrain from doing business with them. Lastly, the Wall St. Journal was vociferous in their complaints that these entities were getting out of control. Freddie and Fannie responded that they were merely trying to fulfill their mission of providing affordable rates to potential homeowners.

Well how was the impact of Freddie and Fannie on the overall mortgage rates that passed through to the consumer? A number of private studies put the “benefit” of Freddie and Fannie to the American homeowner at between 2 and 4 basis points. In layman’s terms, if a homeowner would have gotten a 6.75% rate then having Fannie/Freddie on the scene helped them get a 6.72% rate.

Now wait a minute, you mean the system was taking all that risk and F/F grew their internal “hedge fund” portfolios of north of 1.5 trillion for a benefit of 3bps. How does that work? Well, the benefits accrued to the shareholders and the executives including Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson.

And as we know, these two gentlemen have been linked to Barack Obama. More good judgment?

As this scenario played out, Senator Baker and then Senator McCain and other Republicans started to get up in arms about the enormous “systemic” risk that was developing. To be fair, Freddie Mac did work to root out the most egregious “predatory lending” that had been undertaken. That said, Freddie was the buyer of the bulk of sub-prime product in the market and without their bid the “overly aggressive” lending would not have taken place to the extent that it did. Fannie was the buyer primarily of Alt-A product which included a lot of the loans without full documentation.

Both F/F were effectively cooking their books. Freddie actually made more money than they were reporting (putting revenue away for future years) while Fannie had truly pathetic risk management and grossly overstated earnings. Both firms reporting of earnings were totally driven by “maximizing” executive bonus packages. Very simply, heads I win, tails you (meaning Uncle Sam and taxpayers) LOSE!!

Even in the midst of this, while Baker, McCain, the WSJ and others were railing on how these agencies were managed, regrettably the necessary regulations and oversights never got out of committee because the Democrats, primarily Sen. Chris Dodd, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Rep. Barney Frank crushed it.

At this juncture, Barack Obama votes present. He was not willing to stand up to his party because he was in bed with Fannie/Freddie and was well on his way to being the second greatest beneficiary of their largesse only after Chris Dodd. To think that this crowd is now going to hold hearings to “review” this crisis is akin to the “inmates running the asylum!!

Along comes another tie to Tony Rezko and crime and corruption in Chicago and Illinois. We have a balanced ticket in Obama and Biden. They both have ties to Tony Rezko and Joseph Cari.

Cari’s sentencing is delayed while he cooperates with the investigation. Obama, who entered into a complex real estate transaction with Rezko and his wife in 2005 that appeared to aid the senator, has returned nearly $150,000 in donations he received from Rezko and his associates over the years.”

I live in Davenport, Iowa – Precinct 23. I arrived at our precinct caucus at 6:30. At 6:50 pm, over 75 people of African American descent came walking in, past the tables and sat in the Obama section.  I knew one of them from my canvassing.  I knew another one who did not live in this precinct!  And aside from the 4 or 5 families that live on Hillandale Road, there are no other black people in this unusually white precinct and one of those black couples were in my Hillary section. The results were Obama 3, Clinton, 2, Edwards 1!  It was impossible for me to argue since the precinct chair was an Obama supporter from another precinct. A very large bus was seen in the parking lot afterwards carrying these folks back.

You probably have heard about the busloads coming in from over the IL border, but you may not have known about the busloads coming in from the NE border. North Omaha and Omaha itself are two of the three places in NE — Lincoln being the third — where there’s over 5% African-American population. Obama’s campaign offered people things like I-pods and free stuff– t-shirts, clothes, shoes, and at least two free meals on the Nebraska side.

FROM KANSAS

There were a lot of young people there and a lot of black people.  We do not have that many blacks in this county.  El Dorado is a small town of about 12,000 and it is the largest town in the county.  There are probably only a handful of blacks that live in El Dorado.  I work with the school district and travel to the high school, middle school and elementary schools and believe me, there are very, very, few  black students.

There was NO voter registration for the MN caucus… no identification was checked so Obots were going from room to room voting over and over again giggling all the while doing it.

FROM NEVADA

Throughout this mess of a process, hostility built to a degree I found truly alarming.  Some overenthusiastic BHO supporters formed a gauntlet in the hallway outside the registration area, on the way to the ballroom, within the zone in which campaigning was prohibited.  Any HRC supporter was subject to verbal abuse, ridicule and, eventually, physical assault.

FROM NEBRASKA

Nebraska was totally chaotic and each precinct location had a different way to do the caucus. In Nebraska, 18 precincts where crammed into one high school in Sarpy county. When I got there, it felt like I stepped into a Third World voting situation. They were trying to determine whether people could actually participate in the caucuses or not, and then it seemed like they just gave up on that and just let anyone participate. There was a gym at the high school where about 5 precincts met. A person was supposed to fill out their preference on a slip of paper and then turn it in. They tried to run it like a primary instead of a true caucus, just take out any semblance of order and guards against voter disenfranchisement that a normal primary would have. I found a pile of these preferences slips just sitting on a table where anyone could pick them up and fill them out.

I was at the Texas Caucus and the Obama supporter’s took the Packets as early as 6:30 AM which they were told not to do, They never let go and then when time came to vote they took over the precinct by some of them pushing the people that were supposed to run it across the room to chairs. They called in incorrect totals for Obama instead of correct ones. He actually had 4 delegates and they called in 19 delegates.

When my 88 year old Mother showed up, who can hardly walk on her walker, and they took her walker away from her when she said she was there to vote for Hillary. They said you are in the wrong place old woman; this is an Obama precinct, and you need to go across town. When I saw what was happening I called the police. Blog post no quarter evelyn

As an eye witness at the Precinct and Senate District Conventions, this is how Obama won many caucuses. First of all, vast numbers of Obama supporters were bused in to the conventions. They were loud and intimidating. Texas Democratic rules state that each person who participates in the Precinct Convention should have voted in this precinct and sign-in personally on a formal sign-in sheet. So many Obama people showed up, that there were not enough sign-in sheets available, so when the conventions ended, there were many sign-in sheets for Obama filled out in the same handwriting, not signed-in as specified. As Hillary supporters, we obtained copies of these sign-in sheets from all over south Texas, Harris County in particular. We laboriously compared the names on the sheets to see if the person who attended the precinct convention had voted in the primary election. Many listed Obama people had not. We then cross-checked the names of the Obama people to see if they lived in the correct precinct. Many times the Obama people did not come to the correct precinct and often appeared on sign-in sheets, as being present in several precinct conventions at the same time (a violation of the space-time continuum).

I walked into the Nueses,Texas County Convention only to discover that I was already there as an Obama delegate.

They shoved Obama signs in Clinton delegates’ faces, three inches from the nose, called them racists, and told my friend that she had to move from her third-row seat in one meeting and go sit in the back. She also said that the proceedings were heavily laced with black power speeches by preachers as well as public officials.

What I saw was at least 3 trained group agitators — Since my MA is in group dynamics and group facilitation I recognized when someone is using techniques that I have been trained in. If such individuals were planted in ALL precincts, along with bringing in ringers — then ALL caucus results are bogus. For this sort of intensive origination to take place in a rural area — this means that a vast amount of money was spent to manipulate the results of the caucus. The Obama supporters kept changing the number of delegates — subtracting Clinton delegates and increasing Obama delegates, each time they claimed someone had changed and they had to do “complicated” math and that’s why Clinton kept losing delegates. There were NO Clinton supporters checking the Obama “math”.

These are crimes in and of themselves people.

Do I have faith in the American Justice system? YES.

Do I have faith in the “You scratch my back, I scratch yours” political environment in Biden Country? NO DOUBT AT ALL THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE BIDEN DICTATED DOWN TO THE TRIAL JUDGE (Who by the way, will not be known to us until September 11, 2008.)

Does the Delaware Attorney General comply with the laws he is sworn to uphold and enforce? NO.

Does Joseph R. Biden II need to answer for his using false information to have me arrested and have SSA discontinue my benefits in a 24 hour time period? YES.

Does Joseph R. Biden III need to answer to why his office has continue to push a charge that THEY know is without merit and lacking of any criminal intent or basis? YES.

Is Delaware bringing this matter in an effort to assist Barack Obama shut me up? YOU BET YOUR ASS THEY ARE.

Below is an interesting argument by another blogger who has been following this story from the beginning:

I guess we now know who John McCain’s choice will be as Vice President in a guard from his Vietnam POW days beating on American Soldiers as Barack Obama has chosen his chief thug whose family has been joyously bashing, torturing and terrorizing a gay invalid in Lawrence Sinclair.

I had honestly thought Biden had shot his wad when David Plouffe took over for David Axelrod in dealing with Lawrence Sinclair and “smilin‘ Joe” decided not to bribe Mr. Sinclair, but to send in the storm troopers in everyone from the Federal Marshal’s, DC Police, Social Security and the entire state of Delaware justice system led by his bouncing baby boy, Beau Biden was complete overkill like nuking an ant.
Apparently though, the stomach turns both ways like in the mafia, because when Barry Obama came asking for a favor, Joe Biden made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

“It’s like this Barry. I get your sodomite keester out of hot water by tossing Lawrence Sinclair in prison and you make me Master of the Obama plantation or I happen to pass this onto the FBI and you end up in prison.
You may kiss the ring now”, quote the Biden.

For Barack Obama to choose Biden is simply Watergate suicidal. For Biden to willingly jump on a ticket considering the outright un-American thuggery he has had his boy carrying out against Lawrence Sinclair in the biggest gay bashing in history, is just begging for impeachment and prison time for him.

For a review of Joe Biden’s accomplishments:

1. He had the Delaware Attorney General’s office create a bogus Grand Jury indictment.

2. He had the DC police illegally arrest and detain Lawrence Sinclair.

3. While in custody he deprived Mr. Sinclair of his needed medications as he has a brain tumor.

4. While in custody he had the DC police “loose” Mr. Sinclair so legal counsel could not find him.

5. While in custody he deprived Mr. Sinclair of phone access.

6. While in custody he had the Federal Attorney attempt to hold Mr. Sinclair indefinitely on outrageously high bail.

All of those facts are human rights violations against international law which belong in The Hague.

Out of custody, Joe Biden, as this was coming out of Delaware was sending out forged legal papers to Social Security to get Mr. Sinclair’s benefits cancelled which he depends on and then had him terrorized in threatening to make him repay all benefits.

Out of custody, the Delaware Attorney General’s office has been seeding false stories into the press.

Out of custody, the Delaware Attorney General’s office via Susan Dwyer has refused to provide Mr. Sinclair’s legal counsel with evidence of charges which they are illegally quoting to the press.

Currently, Joe Biden, via his son, Delaware Attorney General and the above deputy, Susan Dwyer, are attempting to imprison Mr. Sinclair for life on a misdemeanor, blackmailing him to plead guilty on the twisting of the law “he is a career criminal”.
That charge is meant for criminals who are committing ceaseless crimes in the said state in violent crimes, not for petty theft. (Note Mr. Sinclair has shown proof there was no crime in Delaware and in fact by the outrageous “check cashing charges” he was made to pay he in this is the victim which Delaware should be investigating.)”

Israel Insider is reporting that analysts working separately have determined the birth certificate posted on the Daily Kos website and later on Sen. Barack Obama’s “Fight the Smears” campaign website is fraudulent, and now two different actions have been launched to try and obtain the truth about the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s birth.

The Israel Insider report said the two analysts it interviewed both have been “able to independently discern the name ‘Maya Kassandra Soetoro’ from artifacts left behind in the process of forging a new fake document for Barack from an image of Maya’s original document.” Maya is Obama’s younger half-sister.

The report follows a posting from another researcher, identified by the news publication as Techdude, that the birth certificate is a forgery because it originally documented the birth of a woman in the 1970s.

Blogger Mitchell Langbert now has launched an online petition to the Federal Election Commission in which signers are asking the agency to “take responsibility to verify the eligibility of Mr. Barack H. Obama to be president of the United States.”

Wrote Langbert, “Mr. Obama has refused to produce a physical certified, stamped copy of his birth certificate. An electronically displayed imaged displayed by his official campaign website has alleged to have been a forgery. … We request that the FEC require Mr. Obama to authorize the FEC to obtain an official copy of his birth certificate.”

Ted Moran, who said he wished to be contacted at brotherbear@solomonsstables.org, said he also was launching a campaign to discern the truth about Obama’s birth certificate.

“I am looking for 50 brave men or women from 49 states and the District of Columbia to join me in suing the secretaries of state in our respective states to prevent them from posting the name Barak H. Obama on the November 2008 ballot until he presents incontrovertible proof that he is a … U.S. citizen,” he said. “The secretaries of state are the ones who by placing a person or initiative on the ballot certify that the candidates or initiatives meet the legal requirements to be on the ballot.

“The office of the president is simply too important to trust to someone other than a person whose loyalties are 100 percent American, and while it is impossible to read into the heart of a man or woman we do have the test our forefathers gave us. Which is this office is not to be entrusted to anyone but a natural U.S. citizen,” he said.

Multiple requests over a period of several days by WND to the Obama campaign for a comment or explanation of the birth certificate issue did not generate any response.

The Israel Insider said, “The revelation that [the birth certificate] of Obama’s own sister was evidently used to create the electronic forgery represents what supporters of this analysis claim is a ‘smoking gun’ that appears to implicate Sen. Obama directly. Hawaii law limits access to vital records to family members only, a fact which slowed down the ability of researchers to compare the purported Obama ‘birth certificate’ – which displayed from the start a peculiar provenance and inexplicable features – to genuine specimens. Therefore, it would seem that either Maya K. Soetoro-Ng (as she is now called) supplied the document or its image to half-brother Barack or his campaign, or Obama/his campaign used it without her permission.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher. Even the Snopes anti-rumor site acknowledges that Obama’s constitutional fitness to be president depends solely on his being born in the United States, because his mother – not yet 19 at the time of his birth – would not have had a sufficient number of years as an adult citizen, according to the laws prevailing at the time, to pass on ‘natural born citizenship‘ automatically,” the report said.

“There have been reports, so far unconfirmed, that Obama was born outside the country, either in Kenya, his presumed father’s native land, or in Canada. The fact that the Obama campaign has been touting as genuine a forgery since June 12 will likely increase pressure to not only account for the fake but produce a genuine paper birth certificate. Obama, in his book ‘Dreams from My Father,’ specifically mentioned having such a document in his possession, but it has not been submitted for public inspection or analysis if it in fact exists,” the report said.

The forensic computer investigators interviewed by the news publication concluded there are two obvious possibilities for the birth certificate image: A real certificate was scanned and digitally edited or a real certificate was scanned for the graphic layout, then blanked by soaking the document in solvent to remove the toner.

The certificate was published by the Daily Kos June 12 following initial reports questioning Obama’s place of birth. He’s stated he was born in Hawaii, but if that was not the case, his citizenship could be uncertain, since his father was not a citizen and his mother was not old enough to pass along American citizenship automatically.

The issue originally was raised by Jim Geraghty, reporting on the Campaign Spot, a National Review blog. He cited the “unlikely” possibility that Obama’s 1961 birth was not within the U.S.

At the time, he wrote, “If Obama were born outside the United States, one could argue that he would not meet the legal definition of natural-born citizen … because U.S. law at the time of his birth required his natural-born parent (his mother) to have resided in the United States for 10 years, at least [f]ive of which had to be after the age of 16.’”

He then pointed out Ann Dunham, Obama’s mother, was 18 when Obama was born, “so she wouldn’t have met the requirement of five years after the age of 16.”

When the Daily Kos website posted an image that appeared to be Obama’s birth certificate, Geraghty announced he was satisfied.

The presumptive Republican nominee for president, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., already has gone through a similar challenge, and the U.S. Senate responded with a resolution in April declaring him to be a “‘natural born Citizen’ under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States.”

The article declares “no person except a natural born citizen … shall be eligible to the office of president.”

McCain was challenged because he was born to two U.S. citizens in the Panama Canal Zone.

This letter requests the attention of your office in the investigation of Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

In June, Sen. Obama published an image of a Hawaii Certification of Live Birth (COLB) on his campaign website next to the words “the truth about Barack’s birth certificate.” It is still there (see http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/birthcert).

Since that time, at least two forensics and documents experts have concluded that this image of a COLB, proferred by Sen. Obama as his true birth certificate, is a forgery (references below). Because these experts are working with an Internet image rather than an actual paper document — their work has been highly technical and difficult to document. Unfortunately Sen. Obama has thus far ignored requests by reporters to produce a certified hard-copy of his COLB, much less a copy of his original birth certificate that includes several additional fields such as name of hospital, parents’ signatures, doctor’s signature, mother’s address, etc.

As you well know, the falsification of COLB-style forms is relatively simple because of technological advancements in digital and computer applications. The very existence of the computer-generated black block where the Certification Number should be is suspect and, in accordance with the document’s own language about alterations, would invalidate the certificate. For this reason alone, investigation is warranted.

While the two experts (combined 50+ years of relevant experience) differ somewhat on the means involved in performing the forgery, they are both unwaivering in their conclusion that the COLB on Obama’s website is fake. Because of the intimidation and threats that Obama’s critics face, these experts have thus far remained anonymous. However, your office should have other means of verifying the authenticity of their reports, and possibly you could consult with them upon request under appropriate conditions.

Researchers believe that Sen. Obama’s birth records in Hawaii may reveal a different legal name, perhaps as a result of an adoption and subsequent Indonesian citizenship, and that Sen. Obama may be intentionally concealing these facts from the electorate.

As Attorney General of the State of Hawaii, please investigate the possible forgery of a Hawaii Certification of Live Birth, and report your findings to the public imminently. In a few weeks, the Democratic National Convention will decide whether Sen. Obama will be that Party’s official nominee for U.S. President. If there is information about Sen. Obama’s truthfulness related to his birth and citizenship, it is in the public’s interest that such information be fully disclosed immediately.

This follow up report, although it is more of an addendum, is about to reveal enough proof, beyond any doubt, that the KOS COLB is a digitally modified forgery and was based on another individual’s post-2006 COLB.

Since there were so many questions raised with the remnants of the previous border located on the KOS images I decided to focus this particular follow up on that specific issue. While mapping out over 100 individual scattered digital remnants and artifacts of the previous underlying COLB I also uncovered and restored the remnants and artifacts of the original COLB’s text.

For a quick preview – the original COLB used to create the KOS COLB image belongs to a female and does not belong to Obama. Another follow up report will reveal exactly who the original underlying COLB did belong to. Trust me when I tell you it is going to be one hell of a major twist that no one would have seen coming. I had to quadruple check my results because I did not even believe it and I currently have a few other people double and triple checking my results as well just to be 100% sure.

That said, and in the interest of fairness, if the people responsible for forging the COLB come forward and admit their liability the name of the original COLB owner will not be released publicly. It is only fair to give the guilty parties a chance to take responsibility for their actions before it embarrasses a lot of people and ruins some people’s reputations.

As a heads up to the guilty parties – the names and dates have already been restored – as has the fact the owner is a female born in the 70’s. That is all that will be revealed publicly for now. Besides if I turn up in a ditch someplace the information is already in a few 3^rd party hands and they will just release it in my place.

If anyone still believes the KOS COLB is legitimate after reading this article they should seriously think about seeking professional help.

That being said, it never ceases to amaze me how some people will always just refuse to see the facts when they are placed in front of them. Perhaps they have just been blinded by their own creative interpretations of what they want to see but I will simply put my money on them just being really stupid…..

The Obama – Larry Sinclair Story and It’s Impact on Media Credibility

It is becoming increasing clear that the public is more aware of the media’s bias towards Sen. Obama.

The questions now become:

• When will the media understand that they will be losing even more of their viewers to the internet?
• When will the media do a little soul searching about the media’s role in reporting the news? Just a hint to today’s reporters. You are supposed to investigate and report the facts in a fair and unbiased manner.
• Which reporter will break ranks and finally start reporting on negative issues that relate to Sen. Obama?

As can be seen from Rasmussen Reports poll, the belief that reporters are trying to help Obama is increasing. Many talk about the Blue Wall of Silence when the police close ranks to protect one of their own, -how is this any different? The silent conspiracy to shape the news and elect the media’s choice is becoming more visible. I hope I am not alone in my concern over this type behavior. A Free Press is one of the cornerstones of our democracy and to have it corrupted like this is just not acceptable.

Rasmussen’s analysis also points out another interesting fact. The poll indicates that 45% say that most reporters would hide information if it hurt the candidate they wanted to win. This is where Larry Sinclair’s allegation that he and Sen. Obama did cocaine and engaged in gay sex in 1999 comes into this story. Where has the media been? Why haven’t they asked any questions, investigated or interviewed Mr. Sinclair? It is my belief that the answer relates to what 45% of us believe about the media. They are hiding it to protect Senator Obama. So what will be the impact on the media? I believe it will be the straw that breaks any illusion of media objectivity that remains into a thousand pieces. This story has many layers and news stories that are being ignored – from the basic allegations, the cover-up, internet intimidation, forced blog removals, threats, and abuse of judicial process. Once this story does break, and it will, the public will be forced to look squarely at the media and ask: Where were you in all this?

The poll results are personally encouraging regarding the aspect of the story breaking. They indicate that Republicans and unaffiliated voters are more likely to trust campaign information from family and friends than from reporters. Democrats are evenly divided as to who they would trust more. Who are the bloggers? They are family and friends of course. That is how Mr. Sinclair’s story will get out. The story reaches many people each day and some of those cut and paste and send it to their friends, and so on, and so on. Therefore, it is imperative that internet bloggers continue to hold the media’s torch as best we can (without formal training), spreading the bits and pieces of news items that we find. At least until the media is shamed into doing their own jobs. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that most reporters are so full of themselves that shame will not even make a blip on their radar.

Just consider the difference in the media’s coverage of Sen. McCain’s trip to the Middle East as compared to fawning coverage Sen. Obama is receiving. We need to demand better from the press.

Maybe, just maybe, if the public gets so fed up with this attempt to fix the election that voters pull the lever for the underdog who does not garner such powerful support – then maybe they will come back to their senses.

Belief Growing That Reporters are Trying to Help Obama Win

The belief that reporters are trying to help Barack Obama win the fall campaign has grown by five percentage points over the past month. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey found that 49% of voters believe most reporters will try to help Obama with their coverage, up from 44% a month ago.

Just 14% believe most reporters will try to help John McCain win, little changed from 13% a month ago. Just one voter in four (24%) believes that most reporters will try to offer unbiased coverage.

A plurality of Democrats—37%– say most reporters try to offer unbiased coverage of the campaign. Twenty-seven percent (27%) believe most reporters are trying to help Obama and 21% in Obama’s party think reporters are trying to help McCain.

Among Republicans, 78% believe reporters are trying to help Obama and 10% see most offering unbiased coverage.

As for unaffiliated voters, 50% see a pro-Obama bias and 21% see unbiased coverage. Just 12% of those not affiliated with either major party believe the reporters are trying to help McCain.

In a more general sense, 45% say that most reporters would hide information if it hurt the candidate they wanted to win. Just 30% disagree and 25% are not sure. Democrats are evenly divided as to whether a reporter would release such information while Republicans and unaffiliated voters have less confidence in the reporters.

Republicans and unaffiliated voters are more likely to trust campaign information from family and friends than from reporters. Democrats are evenly divided as to who they would trust more.

A separate survey released this morning also found that 50% of voters believe most reporters want to make the economy seem worse than it is. A plurality believes that the media has also tried to make the war in Iraq appear worse that it really is.

A survey conducted earlier this year found that 30% of voters believe having a friendly reporter is more valuable than raising a lot of campaign contributions. Twenty-nine percent (29%) believe contributions are more important and 40% are not sure.

These results are consistent with earlier surveys finding that large segments of the population believe the media is biased It is also clear that voters select their news sources in a partisan manner. During Election 2004, CNN viewers heavily favored John Kerry while Fox Fans preferred George W. Bush.

Obama’s Left – A Trojan Horse (Donkey) Approaches

This election is one of the most important in our history for many reasons. The most important of these is that for the first time our government could be in a situation where primarily only the voices coming from the extreme left could very well dominate the discussion and legislative action regarding the critical issues facing our country’s future for years to come.

Let me say, there’s nothing inherently wrong with an individual’s strong attachment to an idea, party or belief system. That’s where our passions are grounded and is many times the essential element necessary to effectuate change or societal betterment. For the possessors of passion, honor is bestowed and deserved. However, frequently accompanying deeply held beliefs and/or ideas, a danger lurks and can infect the entire process of reaching solutions for responsible change. The arrogance of self-assuredness, the belief that my ideas are the ones we all must follow in order to be enlightened or saved rears its ugly head.

Ideally, if honest problem solving processes can continue unabated beyond such attachments to philosophies or ideas, a willingness to discuss issues, solutions, and possible consequences within the context of today’s reality will be revealed. Parties would be engaged and listening carefully to all sides until the facts, predicted consequences and opinions converge and are agreed upon. Even though sometimes it might be necessary, people would let go of deeply held views – if that is not the direction that the solution should go or if the past has proven that the idea(s) has failed in the past. Over and over, it has been shown that many of the ideas the far left is proposing do not work (over regulation, higher taxes, weak defense, bigger government, creating dependence on government, punishing business for being successful, socialism, etc.).

Regrettably, recent history also demonstrates that the extreme left has not shown a propensity to engage in the process of discussion other than as a ruse or pretext to further their aims. Surely, everyone has noticed the way Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi have run the legislative branches of our government. What they have not done, is govern with an eye towards responsible solutions. Everything they do is carefully orchestrated to score political points and shift blame in order to try and gain a veto proof majority in 2008. Where are the Blue Dog Democrats today? Why are they not standing up?

Notice the eyebrows and defenses going up when the extremes of any thing (pro, con, right, left, climate change issue, etc.) interact? Suspicions lay ever present beneath the surface, beneath the words exchanged. Instead of discussion, proponents and opponents immediately begin looking for ways to impose their wills on everyone else. Forgive me, but I do like discussion, trying to find real solutions to problems, looking carefully at current realities, and reasoned predictions of consequences. Honest and legitimate debate is a rare but good occurrence. In today’s political environment, issues are mostly haggled over in more of a pandering and plotting manner. Be that as it may, this current bickering is much better than the possibility of having the left take control of our government.

The extreme left rarely rests upon one individual issue or another as their ultimate goal. Theirs is a goal of domination of the “entire” process and relegation of opposition forces to a dark corner. I suppose the same could be said for some within the Republican Party, but to a lesser degree. The difference is that their agenda would not dismantle our economic and governmental systems and replace them with a socialist system of bureaucratic dominion.

Give any group a substantial majority in elective office and we have a recipe for disaster if their goals are in reality directly opposed to the heart felt desires and understandings of most Americans. However, the only possible way this could occur is if the media participates in the glossing over or cover-up of such radical views through carefully crafted presentations and representations in the news. If the media were to build a figurative Trojan Horse for candidates that hold the same view as theirs, and we invite them in through the election process, then we might wake up to find that the horse’s belly has opened and our freedoms have been co-opted and effectively destroyed. At least until things become so bad or we are attacked again, then maybe we would vote them out or rebel.

Here’s the bad news: The troubling reality is that the situation describe above is exactly what is occurring.

Senator Obama is that Trojan Horse (Donkey) and the media has assumed the role of protecting him, his image and his presidential bid.

The media continues to protect Sen. Obama from:

· The allegations that stem from his involvement in Chicago politics and convicted criminal Tony Rezko. The sweetheart land deals, the political favors, the payoffs, the corruption.

· The hate speech and black liberation theology spewing from his church, ministers, friends.

· His long time associations many who support moving to a Marxist or socialist form of government.

· His lack of experience.

· His responsibility for the intimidation that his supporters are using to police the internet in order to scrub away opinions critical of Sen. Obama.

· The problems surrounding the questions of where he was born and the circumstances around his birth. Questions about his eligibility to be President. Why an altered birth certificate was put up on the Internet by his supporters?

· The lies and inconsistencies that arise from the allegations of Larry Sinclair. The allegations that Mr. Sinclair and Sen. Obama engaged in the illegal use of crack cocaine and gay sex in 1999. This drug use came much later that what the Senator described in his books.

· The legitimate issues that follow Senator Obama concerning his legislative record. Example: Illinois state legislature in 2002, he voted against the Induced Birth Infant Liability Act. The bill was designed to extend the same medical care to babies who happen to survive an abortion attempt as is enjoyed by all babies born alive.

· The Senator’s plans to effectively gut the military budget.

· The Senator’s long held position of being invested in our defeat in Iraq without regard to the possible consequences to Iraq, the region or our military should we pull out prematurely.

· His friendship and associations with William Ayer and his wife, persons who are unrepentant regarding their roles in the bombing of the Pentagon.

Unfortunately, the above list continues to grow as new items are discovered. If the media were to do their jobs, there would be no possibility that Senator would acquire the Democratic nomination, much less the Presidency of the United States.

In conclusion, I sincerely hope you will start demanding that the media start conducting itself in a professional, journalistic and unbiased manner. Most likely you will be ignored. Additionally, if you feel you must vote for Obama, I urge you to also vote for divided government to act as a check to his potential power. If he really can work across the isle, build bridges, build consensus – make him prove it. But whatever you do, please do not turn our freedoms over to the extreme left without investigating Sen. Obama for yourself, even though it requires some effort.
