Bloody nonsense

Court-martials for SEALs an absurdity

The pending court-martials of three Navy SEALs for allegedly failing to protect an apprehended terrorist believed responsible for the infamous execution-style slaughter of four American contractors in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004, is the height of politically correct nonsense.

The three men, Matthew McCabe, Jonathan Keefe and Julio Huertas, face charges of dereliction of duty and making false statements, while McCabe also faces an assault charge. According to media reports, the three SEALs were part of a team that apprehended Ahmed Hashim Abed on Sept. 3. Mr. Abed told authorities that while in detention he was assaulted, and showed investigators a bloody lip.

That’s right, a bloody lip.

Every year the New York Police and Fire Departments face off in an annual football game.  The good-natured but intense contest has been a New York City tradition since 1973.

In 2004, members of both squads visited the Oval Office to present President George W. Bush with a token of appreciation for his response following the attacks of September 11, 2001. The meeting had special meaning since among the many casualties of 9-11 were 22 members of the New York City Fire Department Football Club.  (See bravestfootball.com and nypdfootball.com).  Originally, President Bush was asked to attend the annual game to receive the players’ thanks, but he was unable to do so, so I arranged the visit to the White House for the players.

The meeting was scheduled to last about ten minutes.  At the president’s insistence, it lasted longer, in part so he could show the players another recent gift — something he was obviously proud to share with them.  You see, that morning, the warriors who captured Saddam Hussein visited the president and gave him a glass-enclosed gun, the gun Hussein had on him when they dragged him from his rat hole.

The president picked up the box with the gun and showed it to the players.  The president turned the box over and showed the signatures of the soldiers, who were involved in the capture, saying what a “great group” they were.  Clearly, he was proud that our American GIs had captured a brutal tyrant, who took the lives of many.  Our brave troops captured a terrorist, and our commander-in-chief honored their valor and service.

Now, less than six years later, let’s look at what has changed.

Just a few days ago, the “big news” was an inane circus starring two people who crashed a White House State Dinner.  The stories, the photos, the calls for investigations, more funding, firings, in other words, the typical madness will all follow.  Of course, few will thank publicly the men and women of the Secret Service, who keep so many so safe for so long.

While most of the major news outlets seemed totally taken with the gate crashers, few Americans were made aware of a mockery of justice that became public that same week, namely the prosecution of three brave Navy SEALS who face ruin for, among all things, capturing a terrorist who brutally killed, maimed, defiled and hanged four American citizens in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004….Continue Reading

New York rally planned to protest 9/11 trial

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A group against bringing the self-professed mastermind of the September 11 attacks to trial in a U.S. civilian court will hold a rally in New York demanding Washington reconsider its decision, the group said on Tuesday.

The 9/11 Never Forget Coalition said it will hold a rally on December 5 at a park adjacent to the Manhattan federal courthouse where Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others will be tried just blocks from Ground Zero.

No date has been announced for the suspects’ transfer to New York or their first appearance in court.

Debra Burlingame, a co-founder of the group, said the trial gives Mohammed the opportunity to wage “jihad in the courtroom.” The group supports trying the men before a military tribunal.

It is not a conspiracy theory. Using the term “birther” in a condescending, Orwellian manner to discredit decent, hard working Americans who believe that the US Constitution is the law of the land, will not be tolerated.

1. Barack Obama has employed a legion of private and government attorneys to prevent revealing his country of birth. Innocent and eligible persons seeking the office of president do not do that.

2. Barack Obama’s father was a citizen of Kenya and a British citizen.  “natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution” was explicitly written to deal with the issue of foreign allegiances at the time of the writing of the US Constitution.

3. Barack Obama’s citizenship and allegiance was further tainted when he was adopted by his stepfather Lolo Soetoro and Obama became an Indonesian citizen.

4. Some combination of the above allowed Obama to travel to Pakistan in 1981 when travel there was restricted to US citizens.

5. The only document presented by the Obama camp is a Hawaii COLB. There has been no substantiation that it is authentic and it does not establish country of birth. As Lou Dobbs stated, “It is a piece of paper that refers to another piece of paper.”

6. All other documentation, all school records, that would establish country of birth have been kept hidden and restricted.

7. No authentic documentation has been presented to establish that Barack Obama was born in the US.

8. The records of all hospitals in Hawaii have been searched. There is no record of Stanley Ann Obama ever having given birth to a child.

9. Barack Obama’s paternal grandmother in Kenya has stated on multiple occasions that she was present at Obama’s birth in Mombasa.

10. Others have stated, including multiple family members, officials and press, that Obama was born in Kenya.

This has been presented in a manner that a fifth grader can understand. However, if you have any questions, please contact me on this blog.

Sigh. Here we go again–maybe. When certain facts or developments in a story don’t support the line of reportage the MSM wants to pursue, too often, they simply resort to non journalism by omission, perhaps in the hope that their non coverage will make it go away.

It appears that Climategate may be the next big story receive the old MSM general cold shoulder. 

 From a story in today’s AP, byline Arthur Max:

The U.S. and China have yet to address the critical issue of how to raise the hundreds of billions of dollars needed annually to rescue poor countries from storms, floods and drought that are expected to become more severe as greenhouse gases worsen…Scientists say the industrial countries must slash carbon emissions by 25 to 40 percent by 2020 below 1990 to prevent the Earth from adding two degrees Centigrade (3.6F), the maximum considered safe. In addition, developing countries need to lower their emissions growth by 15 to 30 percent from business as usual, according to the authoritative U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. 

None of this is settled science, as one would think reading the story in a vacuum. Indeed, all knowledgeable climate scientists do not say that we must “slash carbon [dioxide] emissions by that amount, as the term “scientists say,” implies.  Accuracy requires the story to say, “some scientists,” or perhaps even, “many scientists,say…”  And thanks to Climategate, the IPPC is not so authoritative anymore (if it ever really was). Indeed, Climategate has called the entire field into significant question generally, and the IPCC opinion specifically. Until the matter is fully investigated–not a quick hearing and a shove under the proverbial rug–climate change hysteria will remain under a cloud that all the media wishful thinking and malpractice will not disperse.

There was a time when the media prided itself on being a skeptical counter weight to the Establishment. Now, they consider themselves part of the Establishment.  The entire field would be better off if reporters started practicing real journalism again….Continue Reading

I just want to give my thanks to and support for America’s Navy Seals.  These are the toughest GREAT GUYS in America.  When I served in the Navy (In-flight Tech P-3 A & B’s), I had the opportunity to watch Navy Seals train from time to time and all I can say is WOW! America has no idea how privileged she is to have Navy Seals in her service.  Too bad Obama doesn’t appreciate them. Aiding and abetting terrorists & prosecuting Seals and the CIA is ass backwards!

I also want to thank every active duty soldier, reservist, veteran, law enforcement officer, and firefighter who fully understands and honors the concept of duty.

As Air Force One heads to Copenhagen for the climate summit Dec. 9, it will presumably not make a U-turn while flying over the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at University of East Anglia near Norwich, England. But perhaps it should.

The 61 megabytes of CRU e-mails and documents made public by a hacker cast serious doubt on the ballyhooed consensus on manmade global warming that the Copenhagen summit was called to address.

The CRU has been a major source of data on global temperatures, relied on by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But the e-mails suggest that CRU scientists have been suppressing and misstating data and working to prevent the publication of conflicting views in peer-reviewed science periodicals. Some of the more pungent e-mails:

“I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!”

“Can you delete any e-mails you may have had with Keith re AR4?”

“I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”

“The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty we can’t.”

“I’m getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU temperature station data. Don’t any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act!”

You get the idea. The most charitable plausible explanation I have seen comes from The Atlantic’s Megan McArdle. “The CRU’s main computer model may be, to put it bluntly, complete rubbish.”

Australian geologist Ian Plimer, a global warming skeptic, is more blunt. The e-mails “show that data was massaged, numbers were fudged, diagrams were biased, there was destruction of data after freedom of information requests, and there was refusal to submit taxpayer-funded data for independent examination.”…Continue Reading

AS world leaders prepare to gather in Copenhagen to discuss again what to do about the weather, damning evidence has been released showing that some scientists have manipulated evidence regarding their theory of anthropogenic global warming — warming caused by mankind.

E-mails from Phil Jones, head of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, are at the eye of this political storm. Many believers in manmade global warming rely heavily on his research group.

In one e-mail to Professor Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University, Jones wrote, “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e. from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”

Tricks belong in magic shows, not science. Surely, researchers are not willing to lie.

And then there was this e-mail: “The fact is, we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. . .”

“There should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.”

Global temperatures have not risen since 1998.

It is a travesty that that is so?

Or is it good cause to slow down the bum’s rush toward draconian policies to counter what, lacking evidence of “global warming,” must now be called “climate change”?

So what does this all mean? It does not mean that there is no warming trend or that mankind has not been responsible for at least some of the warming. To claim that as result of these documents is clearly a step too far. However, it is clear that at least one branch of climate science — paleoclimatology — has become hopelessly politicized to the point of engaging in unethical and possibly illegal behavior.

To the extent that paleoclimatology is an important part of the scientific case for action regarding global warming, urgent reassessments need to be made. In the meantime, all those responsible for political action on global warming should stop the process pending the results of inquiries, investigations, and any criminal proceedings. What cannot happen is the process carrying on as if nothing has happened.

The climate change movement may have been caught in its first ACORN moment, with the publication of emails suggesting global warming data has been manipulated or suppressed.

The University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (CRU) email system was hacked, and it appears fraud as a political strategy may not be limited to ACORN’s community organizing. As with ACORN, rest assured, it won’t be the political or big media establishments that capture the next big evidentiary breakthroughs in “Climategate.”

Global warmists apparently don’t find destroying evidence offensive to their “science.” Similarly, ACORN doesn’t  seem fettered by ethics. Not even a week apart from the breaking news of Climategate, BigGovernment.com reported that the San Diego ACORN office was caught on film literally dumping documents even though it is facing investigation.

On this dumping of documents, BigGovernment.com reports,

“ACORN’s political agenda is also exposed, with thousands upon thousands of documents revealing the depth of the political machine that is ACORN, and its disturbing ties to not only public employee labor unions but some of the most radical leftist organizations.”

Either California’s attorney general didn’t demand that ACORN preserve all documents for the investigation, so that ACORN could not use the excuse of its document retention and destruction policies to destroy evidence, or ACORN ignored that demand.

Now with calls for investigations into Climategate, will investigators neglect taking steps to prevent the destruction of evidence? One cannot understate the scope of the fraud if data were manipulated or suppressed for financial and market gains, or other nefarious reasons (not that suppression of data by members of the scientific community wouldn’t be nefarious on its face).

Besides their apparent shared willingness to tamper with evidence, the climate change movement and ACORN have another common link: their foundations in Marxism.

ACORN, from founder Wade Rathke to others, employed the techniques and visions of Marxist Saul Alinsky.

The green movement, which found its ultimate vessel in climate change, is also steeped in Marxist foundations. The Green Horizon Foundation’s reading list, for example, is filled with Marxist authors, including Marx himself.

French author Andre Gorz, who’s featured on that list, published Ecology as Politics in 1975. In it, Gorz does not mask the anti-capitalist, Marxist agenda of the green movement. The 2.8% in the below article reflects mainly increases in ‘government spending’.  The illusion of a real sustainable increase in GDP was totally funded by Obama’s people printing money out of nowhere!  All smoke and mirrors that the compliant media spun as some great step towards recovery.

Notice that the government estimates were way off.  Do you think Congress is accurately estimating the costs for their proposed takeover of America’s healthcare system?  You can probably triple their estimates and still have estimated costs well below what they actually will be!

3rd quarter GDP 2.8%, not 3.5%

The Commerce Department revised its third-quarter economy estimation sharply downward today, from the previously announced 3.5% annualized growth to 2.8% instead.  That number would still be the best quarter in almost two years, but as the AP notes, it’s almost entirely comprised of short-term government stimulus:

The economy grew at a 2.8 percent pace last quarter, as the recovery got off to a slower start than first thought.

The Commerce Department’s new reading on gross domestic product wasn’t as energetic as the 3.5 percent growth rate for the July-September period estimated just a month ago.

The main factors behind the downgrade: consumers didn’t spend as much, commercial construction was weaker and the nation’s trade deficit was more of a drag on growth. Businesses also trimmed more of their stockpiles, another restraining factor.

The new reading on GDP, which measures the value of all goods and services produced in the United States — from machinery to manicures — was a tad weaker than the 2.9 percent growth rate economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected.

Jim Geraghty points out one big set of numbers that changed:

The revised numbers out today indicate that automotive consumption was less than half initially estimated, contributing 0.81 of percentage point to growth. The overall quarterly growth number was revised from 3.5 percent to 2.8 percent.

The White House had pointed to the original number of 1.7% as an indicator of the success of Cash for Clunkers. Now it looks as though they overestimated that number as well, which auto analyst Edmunds.com had stated….Continue Reading

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

The three SEALs will be arraigned separately on Dec. 7. Another three SEALs — two officers and an enlisted sailor — have been identified by investigators as witnesses but have not been charged.

FoxNews.com obtained the official handwritten statement from one of the three witnesses given on Sept. 3, hours after Abed was captured and still being held at the SEAL base at Camp Baharia. He was later taken to a cell in the U.S.-operated Green Zone in Baghdad.

The SEAL told investigators he had showered after the mission, gone to the kitchen and then decided to look in on the detainee.

“I gave the detainee a glance over and then left,” the SEAL wrote. “I did not notice anything wrong with the detainee and he appeared in good health.”

When you read some of those files – including 1079 emails and 72 documents – you realise just why the boffins at Hadley CRU might have preferred to keep them confidential. As Andrew Bolt puts it, this scandal could well be “the greatest in modern science”. These alleged emails – supposedly exchanged by some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW theory – suggest:

Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.

One of the alleged emails has a gentle gloat over the death in 2004 of John L Daly (one of the first climate change sceptics, founder of the Still Waiting For Greenhouse site), commenting:

“In an odd way this is cheering news.”

The first phase of the 2010  U.S. Census is under way as workers have begun verifying the addresses of households across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000  U.S.  Census workers will count every person in the  United States  and will gather information about every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race, and other relevant data.

The big question is: how do you tell the difference between a  U.S.  Census worker and a con artist? BBB offers the following advice:

If a  U.S.  Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should NEVER invite anyone you don’t know into your home..

Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your Social Security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the  U.S.  Census.

REMEMBER, NO MATTER WHAT THEY ASK, YOU REALLY ONLY NEED TO TELL THEM HOW MANY PEOPLE LIVE AT YOUR ADDRESS.

While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary   range, YOU DON’T HAVE TO ANSWER ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT YOUR FINANCIAL SITUATION. The Census Bureau will not ask for Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers, nor will employees solicit donations. Any one asking for that information is NOT with the Census Bureau.

AND REMEMBER, THE CENSUS BUREAU HAS DECIDED NOT TO WORK WITH ACORN ON GATHERING THIS INFORMATION. No Acorn worker should approach you saying he/she is with the Census Bureau.

Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail or in person at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by Email, so be on the lookout for Email scams impersonating t he Census.

It comes to our attention that the MEMRI Blog highlights an article from the Saudi _al-Watan_ in Arabic that – according to an Afghan source – the United States is talking to the Taliban seeking to trade control of 5 provinces in exchange for the cessation of attacks on US bases. MEMRI summarizes:

An Afghan source in Kabul reports that U.S. Ambassador in Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry is holding secret talks with Taliban elements headed by the movement’s foreign minister, Ahmad Mutawakil, at a secret location in Kabul. According to the source, the U.S. has offered the Taliban control of the Kandahar, Helmand, Oruzgan, Kunar and Nuristan provinces in return for a halt to the Taliban missile attacks on U.S. bases.

Kunar province borders the Khyber Pass region where the majority of US and NATO supplies pass enroute from Pakistan. And the4 remaining four provinces constitute fully the southern 25% of Afghanistan’s territory.

RALEIGH, N.C. – The U.S. Army plans to prevent media from covering Sarah Palin’s appearance at Fort Bragg, fearing the event will turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama, officials said Thursday.

Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press that the military post’s garrison commander and other Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin’s book signing, which will not include a speech. He said the Army did not want the Monday event to become a platform to express political opinions “directed against the commander in chief.”

“The main reason is to stop this from turning into a political platform,” he said. “There are Army regulations that basically prohibit military reservations from becoming political platforms by politicians.”

He said only one politician can use that platform, “and that person does it as our commander in chief.”

Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, has already agreed not to give a speech at Fort Bragg, McCollum said. Officials said Palin will only sign her books at the event and will not stop to pose for photographs or personalize the books.

Is it a Field of Dreams or a Plea for Return to a Constitutional Republic?

Last night I stumbled upon an article, A Case For Secession-Introduction,  (first of a series) on Gather.com and it struck me that the time may soon be approaching when one or two states will be called to step up for the rest of us in hopes of saving the Republic.  I’m not advocating for secession now; I’m just looking at the possibility with a little more interest. How such a move might shift our ‘government’ back to position where Representatives actually have to listen to and respect their constituents is a question that interests me.  What is clear is that with Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in control, Democratic Members of Congress are currently being effectively bribed with earmarks, promises or threats to pass legislation America does not want. They are not listening.

Polling demonstrates over and over the majority of Americans are against government run healthcare, are against unreasonable infringement of our Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms, are against illegal immigration, are against socialism, are against tax dollar funding of organizations like ACORN and SEIU, are against politicians creating unsustainable debt that will cripple their children’s futures, are against government manipulate of the news, are against government creating more unsustainable entitlements, are against Congress not adhering to the Constitution, are against Congress exceeding their power, are against Congress trampling on the rights reserved to the states under the Constitution, and are against unreasonable infringement of rights of privacy and free speech.  In many states, the majorities are huge.  They generally reflect states with populations that realize that government handouts do nothing other than create dependence to government/politicians and harm the recipients.

Today Congress is acting like a mule; and like a mule, sometimes the only way to get its attention is to hit it between the eyes.  As we (a majority) all know, the Obama Congress is running America’s balance sheet, value of her dollar, and entire economy over the cliff.  Most of us also know that it’s only drastic action can get the attention of this Congress that appears hell bent on ushering in a new socialist nation.  Ordinary Americans are trying with massive Tea Parties, but one certain way to get Washington’s attention and possibly prevent the coming economic and social disaster (annihilation) is for one state or two to say ENOUGH! The preverbal two by four between the eyes may be what is called for to save the futures of all Americans.

Logistically there are only a few states that have strong enough economies and sufficient resources to tell the Federal Government to go screw itself, we are going our own way. 

Alaska has sufficient resources (energy, etc.), access to trade with other countries (Canada and Russia), self-sufficient people, leaders who have a minimal concept of a balanced budget, and natural independence from the contiguous United States.

Texas has many of the same attributes as Alaska (a notion of being somehow independent of the rest of the country, trade with Mexico, Latin America and an independent/self-sufficient people).

N. Dakota, Nebraska a few other boarder/coastal states may be able to manage independence for themselves, but not without a lot of determination.  Other central states like Oklahoma would probably need prearranged trade compacts with neighboring states to be successful.  They would go along as they have been; except they would not pay federal taxes, nor receive federal tax dollars nor serve in the U. S. military.  That would certainly get people’s attention.

Most of the states that might reasonably consider secession as an option are the ones that ARE NOT like California, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New Jersey, etc. where politicians have intentionally created large dependent populations of people and groups with their hands out for “other peoples’ money” (dependent voting blocks tied to money- not principle). 

To have a shot at successfully seceding, it is likely that a state must first have a large majority of its population that is interested in independence, who are self-reliant, who as a group have not been used to taking more than their fair share of federal tax dollars, who are not looking for ways to avoid fair taxes but who don’t want to be carrying the load for the above named states, who have reasonable expectations of government; and most importantly, who care about freedom, equality and the principles of the United States Constitution more than the “Federal Government”.  America is its people; it is not the buildings, institutions, and politicians in Washington, D. C. 

If a state did have the courage to choose secession, many of their residents would likely flee. However, millions of independent/self-sufficient Americans, small businesses, and numerous large businesses would be just as quick to try to come to live and thrive in freedom.  Like the movie ‘Field of Dreams’ – build it and they will come.  I believe that is true. Especially, if the state is built/rebuilt upon the principles that founded the once great U.S.A., it would ensure a diverse, hardy, can do citizenry that encourages one another.  You know, a citizenry like America once had.  Not the one that sues every time their coffee is too hot or they have their feelings hurt slightly.

Such a state’s own tax dollars, collected in a fair and reasonable manner from its citizens, would go twice as far as those they had been paying the federal government.  Tax systems could be simplified so everyone has a stake in the services provided by government because they too are paying taxes.  Those in times of need would be given a helping hand up to reach their potential instead of under the government’s foot!  

If fact, upon secession, such a state could made one big but simple change in the system that would go far to encourage individuals to strive for success.  What if the state recognized that it would be more likely that voters would choose the best candidate to represent all the people if voters did not have a big conflict of interest present?   What if the state said that if you are currently receiving monetary benefits from the state/tax-payers (worker’s compensation, welfare, etc., excluding total disability) you cannot vote in any state election until you stop receiving government assistance?  If one wants to participate in elections, one would need to try to get better if injured, try earnestly to find work, or find a way to stop receiving benefits from the state.

Education, environmental protection, etc. could all happen because it would not be in people’s self-interest to scam the state.  Spending for the public good would likely be a lot more reasonable and not tied to corrupt special interest groups like ACORN.

If one or two states did choose to succeed from the Union, it would not necessarily have to be on a permanent basis.  It might be done with the understanding that when the federal government starts respecting the rights of the individual and the states, balances its budget or at least seriously starts down that path, respects and again follows the Constitution; and stops supporting enterprises with a history of intimidation/voter fraud like SEIU and ACORN; then they would consider rejoining the union.

Somehow I imagine every Senator and Representative saying to himself or herself –

What have we done?  We have brought about the destruction of America. It was on my watch!

(One additional thing for Members of Congress to remember is that states like California, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and some other bloated, selfish, leftist states have much lower percentages of residents enlisting in the military than states that would be more likely to entertain seceding!  Who would protect America and her diminishing freedoms from al Qaeda and the Taliban? Maybe they could make a deal with the state/nation to allow its free citizens to serve in the U. S. military.)

Maybe Members of Congress wouldn’t say anything and just continue bleeding America’s taxpayers without listening to them.

I hope for the former; but if the latter occurred, I would pack my bags and move to Texas or wherever.  I would be going to that ‘Field of Dreams’!

Never in my 55 years on this earth have I thought that I would seriously consider the idea of secession from the United States of America.  I guess I was wrong.  Personally, I will be waiting to see if America can be set again on its path under the Constitution through the electoral process in 2010. 

If America can’t be righted to its course, it may be prudent for all freedom loving Americans to be reading up on secession.

Barack Obama was supposed to be America’s answer to the suave, European head of state. A debonair gentleman of the world, he would charm even the most sophisticated foreign leaders and prove, finally, that the United States is developed culturally, not just economically.

Then he gave some DVDs.

Ian Drury of London’s Daily Mail wrote on March 8, “As he headed back home from Washington, Gordon Brown must have rummaged through his party bag with disappointment.

“Because all he got was a set of DVDs. Barack Obama, a box set of 25 classic American films — a gift about as exciting as a pair of socks.”

Brown had given Obama a set of pens made from part of the HMS Gannet, a Victorian-era anti-slave ship. A desk that has sat in the Oval Office since 1880 was made from the timbers of the HMS Resolute, the Gannet’s sister ship. It was a stunningly thoughtful and unique gift left unreciprocated.

But even worse, Obama refused to hold a joint press conference with Brown or invite him for an official White House dinner. And to top it all off, he sent back a bust of Churchill that was lent to the White House after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Russia Today wrote that week, “Despite Barack Obama’s eloquent elocution, ivy school credentials and electric charisma, there is talk that he lacks the most crucial element of any great leader: judgment.”

Since March, Obama’s social gaffes have continued. In April he bowed to the Saudi king; in July he was photographed staring at the rear end of a 16-year-old girl and suggested that Cambridge Police Officer James Crowley was stupid; in October he refused to meet with the Dalai Lama; in September he refused five requests from Gordon Brown for a one-on-one meeting but found time to fly to Copenhagen to promote Chicago’s Olympic bid; and this month he sent Hillary Clinton to attend the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, then topped it all with an obsequious bow to the emperor of Japan.

Obama cannot even blame the Japan bow on proper protocol. It was anything but proper. It was so inappropriate that it even offended the Japanese. …Continue Reading

I spoke to Governor Palin by phone this afternoon. Lots of interesting material, but to me the most interesting takeaways were the following:

1) I asked about Palin’s upcoming visit to Ft. Hood. “We had planned on that before the tragedy struck,” she said. She commented on the trail of evidence linking the alleged Ft. Hood shooter, Maj. Nidal Hasan, to militant Islam. “There were such clear, obvious, massive warning signs that were missed,” she said. “This terrorist, even having business cards” that identified him as an “SoA” or soldier of Allah. Palin blamed a culture of political correctness and other decisions that “prevented — I’m going to say it — profiling” of someone with Hasan’s extremist ideology. “I say, profile away,” Palin said. Such political correctness, she continued, “could be our downfall.” If the upcoming investigations into the attack reveal bad decision-making on the part of senior officials, Palin continued, those officials ought to be fired.

His administration was considering ways to accelerate economic growth, with tax measures among the options to give companies incentives to hire, Obama said in the interview with Fox conducted in Beijing during his nine-day trip to Asia.

The Taliban and Al Qaeda are not the biggest threats our military is facing. The biggest threat is their leadership!

Joseph Farah of World Net Daily has written an important piece that I regretfully agree with.  Even though I know in my heart of hearts that in couple of years we will be returning to Afghanistan to fight a stronger and more determined Taliban and al Qaeda, this Navy Veteran understands that  Obama’s ‘I don’t want to fight to win’ worldview will only result in more loss of life for our military. Therefore, it is time to bring our brave men and women home.  Hopefully by 2012, we will have a legitimate Commander in Chief who believes in America, her forces, her goodness, and believes in winning when we put our soldiers at risk.

Bring the troops home now!

I was a supporter of both the Afghanistan invasion and the Iraq war.

I believed then, following the Sept. 11 attacks, that it was a matter of national security to hand Islamic terrorists stunning defeats in their own backyards.

Even a year ago, I would have said bringing the troops home prematurely would be tantamount to surrender to an enemy determined to do us in.

But that was then. This is now.

Things have changed and changed dramatically.

The biggest change is one in America’s leadership.

I do not believe Barack Obama is capable of achieving anything remotely resembling victory in either Iraq or Afghanistan – at least not victory for the United States of America.

A president incapable of recognizing that war came home Nov. 5 at Fort Hood is certainly incapable of waging foreign wars.

A president incapable of recognizing that terrorists are among us could never be counted on to do the right thing in remote places like Afghanistan and Iraq.

A president whose own worst enemies are the Republican Party, Fox News Channel and the tea party movement couldn’t possibly ever understand the nature of real combat.

It’s time to bring the troops home now!

It’s not without considerable reflection and sadness that I make this call. Like most Americans, I hoped to see the forces that attacked our country without provocation eight years ago utterly destroyed, incapacitated, defeated, devastated, annihilated, demolished and obliterated.

It’s clear that is no longer an option.

Obama has been vacillating since August over what to do in the quagmire that has become Afghanistan – the one conflict he claimed to support in his election campaign. The man he chose to be his field general has requested a surge of 40,000 combat soldiers to finish the job we began eight years ago. Monday night Democrats voted to shut down the U.S. House of Representatives rather than allow a handful of Republican Congressmen to speak on the floor. What could have been so offensive or frightening about our comments that Speaker Pelosi felt she had to protect her party by gagging free speech in the House?

In fact, we had planned to speak on the lack of transparency of the House since Democrats took control. We had planned to criticize Speaker Pelosi for repeatedly denying Members, the media, and the public to right to read legislation before it was voted on. We were set to discuss House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s statement last week that if his Members were required to read the Democrats’ healthcare reform package before it was voted on, it would fail.
