Political consultant Frank Luntz talked this morning about how he uses focus groups to come up with the terms many Republican politicians use in policy debates. Luntz coined “death tax,” among many other favorite GOP expressions. His most recent influence can be seen in his 26-page memo to Republican members of Congress that urges usage of the term “government takeover” to describe a public health insurance option. Luntz argues that most Americans want healthcare coverage made more widely available and for pre-existing conditions to be covered, but that they’re also concerned about losing the level of coverage they have.

President Obama clearly considers this to be true, as he frequently reassures folks that those currently covered by health insurance will be able to continue with what they have. However, many Republicans say a proposed public plan would put private insurers out of business and leave everyone with only the public option. In an apparent mistake, President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod stated during an interview yesterday there are nuclear

weapons in Iran which are a threat to the entire world.

No country has ever claimed Iran currently has a nuclear arsenal. A 2007 U.S. intelligence estimate previously claimed Iran halted its nuclear weapons-related work in 2003, although that report was highly criticized. Other American agencies have stated Iran could obtain nukes by 2013 or later.

Israel maintains Iran could have enough enriched uranium to produce a nuclear weapon in less than a year, although other Israeli estimates put the timeline at 2012.

Axelrod, meanwhile, said yesterday in little noticed comments to ABC News that there are already nuclear weapons in Iran…. Continue Reading

That’s according to Kathy Kupper, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service, who was interviewed on the subject by Greg Corombos of RadioAmerica/WND.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Sitting in his small room in northern Baghdad, a pistol nearby and assault rifles stacked under the bed, Khalil Ibrahim is worried over Iraq’s future.

Six years after the U.S. invasion, Iraqis are contemplating the reality of life after a major milestone — Tuesday’s withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from urban centres.

Glancing at his seven-year-old son playing a war game on a computer in the corner, Ibrahim, a chain-smoking former military intelligence officer, said he has two main worries.

“Iran has good relations with our political parties. They run militias. If the U.S. troops complete their withdrawal, Iran will do whatever it wants in Iraq,” he said, scowling.

Shi’ite-ruled Iran is often accused of arming and funding Shi’ite militias who have killed Sunnis, a charge Tehran denies.

Item No. 160344374585, at least as of today, is described as “a certified copy of President Barack Obama’s Kenyan Birth Certificate.”

A judge hearing one of the cases challenging Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president has taken the unusual step of describing the dispute as a serious constitutional issue and further has begun adding letters of comment from the public to the court record.

Word of the action by U.S. Magistrate Judge Joel Schneider in Camden, N.J., comes from attorney Mario Apuzzo, who is handling the Kerchner vs. Obama case.

Apuzzo filed his lawsuit in January on behalf of Charles F. Kerchner Jr., Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr. Named as defendants are Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives and former Vice President Dick Cheney along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The House of Representatives passed the CAP and TAX (Obamanomics) last night. I listened to Rep. Boehner review some highlights of the 300 page amendment that was dumped on the Representatives at 3am the morning before the vote.  It is going to tax and bureaucratize small and medium businesses out of business.  If there is a brief recovery from the current recession, it will be over the moment the Senate passes this prosperity killer.  Michelle Malkin has a post up indentifying the Republicans who voted for this bill.  Put their names on your refrigerator so when 2010 rolls around we can roll them out the door. Ms. Malkin also lists Democrats who voted against the bill.  However, it is next to impossible to know if these Representatives actually voted based on conviction or if Pelosi gave them cover once she knew she could win without their votes.

A favorite charge against George W. Bush was that when he was President, he would not suffer challenges and disputes from governmental watchdogs. The former President, we were assured, was ensconced in a bubble. People didn’t have the chance to talk straight to him, and feared that even if they were able to, they would be punished by the likes of Dick Cheney or Karl Rove….

…The election of Barack Obama was supposed to change all of this….

…But recently, events have conspired to show that the Obama Administration is not nearly as solicitous of dissent and disputation as it advertised itself as being. Far from it; the Administration has taken actions recently that cannot help but impose a chilling effect on those otherwise willing to call shenanigans on a given governmental practice. Instead of welcoming and encouraging dissent and criticism that could lead to the implementation of best practices in the Executive Branch, the Obama Administration has instead made it clear that those who speak out, run the risk of seeing their careers in government ruined.

Gerald Walpin, the recently fired Inspector General (”IG”) of AmeriCorps, is a cautionary tale for anyone daring to be a gadfly for the Obama Administration. As Byron York reports, Walpin launched an investigation into “fraudulent and inefficient use of federal dollars” over at AmeriCorps, including and most especially “the misuse of federal AmeriCorps funds by Sacramento, California mayor — and prominent Obama supporter — Kevin Johnson,” and “the waste of AmeriCorps money at the City University of New York.” These investigations upset the board and top management of AmeriCorps. In turn, Walpin criticized the board for not doing its duty in overseeing the use of federal funds.

ROME (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got a warm and supportive welcome Tuesday from Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, while postponing a potentially less comfortable meeting with President Barack Obama’s Mideast envoy.

At a joint news conference after talks lasting about two hours, Berlusconi endorsed Netanyahu’s plan for a future demilitarized Palestinian state that recognizes Israel as a “Jewish state.” That means that Palestinians must give up any notion of refugees who left what is now Israel — or their millions of descendants — resettling in their former homes.

And although the U.S. says emphatically that Israel must call an immediate halt to all forms of Jewish settlement activity in the West Bank, Berlusconi was more gentle, speaking only of the need for Israel “to send signals” on stopping settlement.

In March, Fannie Mae (FNM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)(FNM.P: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said it would no longer guarantee mortgages on condos in buildings where fewer than 70 percent of the units have been sold, up from 51 percent, the paper said. JUST WORDS: The Famous Retort By Barack Obama

Barack Obama during the campaign and even after the installation retorted ” Just Words…” while mocking his critics with “I Have A Dream, Just Words….”

Well today Barack Obama used “Just Words” in an exchange with ABC News Jake Tapper when Obama responded ” OK, You’re pitching and I’m catching.” For most Americans that phrase means pretty much nothing, but for Gay America the term have a very specific meaning: The “pitcher” is the man and the “catcher” is the woman in the relationship!

…Walpin discovered that Johnson and St. HOPE had failed to use the federal money for the purposes specified in the grant and had also used federally-funded AmeriCorps staff for, among other things, “driving [Johnson] to personal appointments, washing his car, and running personal errands.”

A couple of weeks ago I posted a story about a couple of Japanese businessmen who were arrested at the Italian/Swiss border while trying to smuggle $134-BILLION in U.S. Treasury notes across the border.  This was ignored by the American main stream media.

The U.S. Government tried to tell the world press that these were forgeries and fakes.  If you believe that, I’ve got some great beachfront property near Phoenix and a fabulous bridge in New York you might be interested in buying…

This is the single biggest farce I’ve heard about in a long time.  Does anyone actually believe that anyone would be transiting a national border with $134 Billion in “fake” Bonds concealed in a suitcase with a fake bottom?

Does anyone actually believe Italian Authorities would ignore their own laws and release persons who violated Italian financial disclosure laws?

Does anyone really believe that a bank or other entity would simply accept a US Treasury “Intergovernmental” Bond with a face value of either $500 Million or $1 Billion without ever calling the US Treasury to determine if the bonds were valid?
